Install the SSE CLI

Install the drasi-sse-cli companion tool

The drasi-sse-cli is a companion command-line tool for Drasi Server Drasi Server A standalone Data Change Processing server running as a process or Docker container. Learn more that connects to a Server-Sent Events (SSE) endpoint and prints the events it receives. It is useful for observing the output of an SSE Reaction — for example, while working through the Getting Started tutorial.

You can either download a pre-built binary or build it from source.

Option 1: Download a Pre-built Binary

Download the appropriate binary for your platform:

mkdir -p bin
curl -fsSL https://github.com/drasi-project/drasi-server/releases/latest/download/drasi-sse-cli-aarch64-apple-darwin -o bin/drasi-sse-cli
chmod +x bin/drasi-sse-cli
mkdir -p bin
curl -fsSL https://github.com/drasi-project/drasi-server/releases/latest/download/drasi-sse-cli-x86_64-apple-darwin -o bin/drasi-sse-cli
chmod +x bin/drasi-sse-cli
mkdir -p bin
curl -fsSL https://github.com/drasi-project/drasi-server/releases/latest/download/drasi-sse-cli-x86_64-linux-gnu -o bin/drasi-sse-cli
chmod +x bin/drasi-sse-cli
mkdir -p bin
curl -fsSL https://github.com/drasi-project/drasi-server/releases/latest/download/drasi-sse-cli-aarch64-linux-gnu -o bin/drasi-sse-cli
chmod +x bin/drasi-sse-cli
apk add --no-cache libstdc++ libgcc
mkdir -p bin
curl -fsSL https://github.com/drasi-project/drasi-server/releases/latest/download/drasi-sse-cli-x86_64-linux-musl -o bin/drasi-sse-cli
chmod +x bin/drasi-sse-cli
apk add --no-cache libstdc++ libgcc
mkdir -p bin
curl -fsSL https://github.com/drasi-project/drasi-server/releases/latest/download/drasi-sse-cli-aarch64-linux-musl -o bin/drasi-sse-cli
chmod +x bin/drasi-sse-cli
New-Item -ItemType Directory -Force -Path bin
Invoke-WebRequest -Uri "https://github.com/drasi-project/drasi-server/releases/latest/download/drasi-sse-cli-x86_64-windows.exe" -OutFile "bin\drasi-sse-cli.exe"

Verify the Download

Verify the binary works:

./bin/drasi-sse-cli --version

You should see output showing the version number. The exact version depends on which release you have installed, so the number below is only an example. The latest release is always available from the Drasi Server releases page.

drasi-sse-cli 0.1.0

Option 2: Build from Source

The drasi-sse-cli lives in the examples/sse-cli folder of the Drasi Server repository. Building it requires the same prerequisites as building Drasi Server itself.

Clone the repository (if you haven’t already):

git clone https://github.com/drasi-project/drasi-server.git
cd drasi-server

Build and install the SSE CLI into a local ./bin directory:

cargo install --path examples/sse-cli --root . --locked

The --root . flag tells Cargo to place the compiled drasi-sse-cli binary in the ./bin directory.

Verify the Build

./bin/drasi-sse-cli --version

You should see output showing the version number, for example:

drasi-sse-cli 0.1.0
